Holidays mountains Tyrol
During your holidays in the mountains South Tyrol you can also notice how this region culture hasn´t been yet completely swept away by mass tourism. An example is the "Slittada da paur", a testimony of the living Ladin culture in Alta Badia, where this ancient culture is still alive. In the past, the sledge was the only way to reach this valley, before the road was built. On the Carnival Sunday in Alta Badia (German:Abtei) a sledge race takes place in Alta Badia. The winner wasn´t the owner of the fastest sledge…but the competitor who wore the most original costume! The "Slittada da paur" tradition has been kept till nowadays, sledging around the Ladin farms, leaving from Pedraces and reaching La Villa (Ladin: La Ila).
Horse riding South Tyrol
During this race you can notice the horses tackle, the participants costumes, the carved sledges, with the enchanting Dolomites in the background. Don´t miss this festival, if you spend your holidays in the mountains South Tyrol in February! You can book your horse riding holidays South Tyrol on the Renon (German: Ritten) Plateau, where you can find many riding schools which organize charming horse ride trips in the Dolomites woods.
